Working With Brands
We build partnerships for growth with leading brands and the ‘who’s who’ of the FMCG industry on an understanding of the markets that we’re selling into. We are completely transparent with regards to sharing markets we work in & our ethical approach and way of doing business has made us the company that we are today.
We export, distribute & market brands from companies such as Nestlé, Mondelēz, Unilever, to name but a few, along with our own brands including Pure Heaven, Laser & Royalty, which have become household names in over 130 countries in just 23 years.
Our Motto & Business Philosophy
Our motto is ‘we only succeed if our customers succeed’. At Sun Mark, our customers’ success is vital to us and we look after and support every customer’s growth, no matter how big or small.
This business philosophy has helped our group become a powerful force in the world and our company has been awarded the highest honour from Her Majesty the Queen, The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, for an unprecedented 5 consecutive years (2009- 2013).
Quality, Quality, Quality
Our own brands are designed to match or exceed market leaders in quality while offering 30–40% lower prices. For example, English Breeze & Flower Garden air fresheners contain 2% perfume versus the industry norm of 1%. Pure Heaven juices are made from 100% concentrate, and Royalty biscuits have fewer holes, indicating higher biscuit content.
From biscuits and hand gels to baby care and household goods, we deliver reliable, high-quality products at competitive prices — with guaranteed availability and dependable service.
Our story
1987
Sea, Air & Land Forwarding, our in-house logistics company, was created in August 1987 by Dr Rami Ranger, FRSA. He started with just £2 capital, a £40 typewriter, and a table that was given by his first customer, a photocopier dealer who had bought himself a new desk. He rented storage space from Abbey Self Storage in Hayes and started trading.
1989
Sea, Air & Land began shipping to markets such as Africa & the Middle East. Dr Ranger believed in providing excellent customer service by going the extra mile. As a result, by 1989 due to the company’s rapid expansion, it had moved its premises to Park Royal which was four times the size.
1991
His Excellency, the ambassador of Kuwait who was being transferred to Zimbabwe, sent a personal letter of thanks to Dr Rami Ranger FRSA for Sea, Air & Land’s services in helping move his belongings to his new residence.
1995
Sun Mark, then called ‘Sun Oil’ was created in 1995 to ship cooking oil to Nigeria under the company’s first brand ‘Laser’. Laser has now become an iconic brand specifically across West Africa and for that reason, the packaging has remained the same today.
1999
Sun Oil’s first export contract was opened with Cadbury in 1999. Shortly after, Nestlé came on board which followed by Masterfoods (Mars) & then Unilever and so on. Sun Mark is still well known within the FMCG world for one of its core strengths in confectionary and snacks.
1999
In 1999 Sea, Air & Land won the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement due to Dr Ranger’s vision for growth. A celebration was held in The Rembrandt Hotel in Knightsbridge for the company & special guests where he received a plaque from Her Majesty the Queen’s Special Representative, Field Marshall Sir John Chapple.
1999
Sun Oil began growing its own brand portfolio and two additional brands ‘Pure Heaven’ (for drinks) & ‘Golden Country’ (for grocery products) were born. Both brands can now be found in hundreds of stockists internationally such as Tesco, Park & Pay, Palace, Games, Choppies, Melcom & many more.
2008
Sun Oil changed to ‘Sun Mark’ to represent the wider product range that Sun Mark could offer and moved to its current premises in Greenford, London, with full logistical capabilities. Sun Mark today offers products across a variety of FMCG categories such as Home Care, Pet Care, Personal Care, Household, Food & Drinks.
2009
Sun Mark began expanding the markets which it worked in along with its own branded range & leading brands supplier base. Following in the footsteps of Sea, Air & Land Forwarding, the company won its first Queen’s Award for Export, International Trade in 2009 for record growth.
2014
Sun Mark went on to win a further consecutive four Queen’s Awards for Export, International Trade in 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013; a record in British business history. The Prime Minister at the time, The Right Honourable David Cameron MP, presented Sun Mark with its fifth award at its headquarters in Greenford- a proud moment for Sun Mark.
